Know Network Risk is a cyber security consulting firm that helps businesses and non-profits protect their organization and those they work with from cyber threats. We find your network vulnerabilities and provide a remediation plan to improve your security posture. Based in Asheville, NC, we serve international and domestic clients. The personalized approach we use gives our team the ability to understand your business.

Additionally, we attend extensive training sessions such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon Web Services, and SANS to stay abreast of current cyber security trends.

Meet Our Leaders

John Barnard

Chief Executive Officer

John leads the finance, planning, and strategic functions at Know Network Risk. He received a bachelor’s in engineering and a master’s degree from the University of Oxford and is a CFA charter holder. John began his career as an analyst with Sloane Robinson, a leading emerging markets hedge fund. Before co-founding KNR, John worked in venture capital in Bangalore, India. With the spirit of supporting others, John enjoys serving on the advisory board of several local companies that include Poppy Popcorn, Elite HRV, and BlueSpatial, as well as the board of non-profit Asheville Music School. John recently adopted a dog named Frank and has taken on a major home renovation project.

Adam Yates

Chief Technology Officer

Adam is the leading cyber security consultant at Know Network Risk (KNR) and has over 15 years of experience preventing cyber threats. Before co-founding KNR, Adam worked as a senior security consultant and technical analyst for several government agencies. Adam holds a master’s degree from Marshall University and many industry certifications such as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). When Adam isn’t working hard to defeat hackers from holding your data hostage, he enjoys collecting vintage arcades and pinball machines.
